Ongoal welcomes Andreas Johansson to the team!

Ongoal välkomnar Andreas Johansson till teamet!

Julia Gustafsson |

Andreas Johansson, also known as "Tranapadel.se", has spent a decade making Sweden's paddle what it is today. He began his career as a player and was at its best ranked 6 in Sweden in 2017 then he switched to becoming Sweden's most successful coach. He has also been able to have an assignment as assistant national team captain for both the women's and men's team (2018) and today he continuously trains the country's best senior senior

Welcome to Team Ongoal, Andreas! How come you have chosen to cooperate with us?

We have actually done a job together a few years ago (Blazepods) and got a very serious and good picture of Ongoal then and it has remained. Now the timing was right, we have many ideas about what we can do together but above all we have one thing in common - we love paddle.

What, for you, is it that distinguishes a really good and promising paddle player?

To be promising - dedicated, listening, humble and hard working. To be really good so besides the other stuff you have to be complete in all the dimensions of the game - mentally, physically, tactically and technically. Then you are really good.

How do you post your workouts with your players? What are your focus areas and how do you "select" the ones you work with?

In an arrangement, it is important to me that you develop both your strengths and weaknesses in the 4 different areas (mentioned above). I work to be as good a coach as possible in all, but lean on specialists for physics and the mental and colleagues about technically and tactically to always have more eyes on the adept. The job with the players is both more fun and has more weight if you have several coaches and skills in the team.

Choosing and choosing, we should work well together, it is important to me that we agree on values and principles. I usually say that the player's goal (which we set together) is our contract and then the player must feel confident in me that I am the one who leads that work - however, the player always has the last word. It is not me who will succeed - but the player. If we have a "match" we have a handshake and drive. Timing can also record, if I have that time to put for the player etc.

What do you most look forward to during 2023 and what is your goal? For your own part, for your team & for the players in the team individually.

For the paddle as an industry it is a tougher year and this also affects us who are dedicated to sports and not just the Business Padel. I want to feel that I have given everything and have not taken any shortcuts with any player in the hunt for their goal. Provided them with the conditions and coaching required to succeed. Personally, I want to be on site as much as possible at competitions but my most important job is before and after. I have extra focus this year on learning tools and develop further in mental training.

For the players, they have all their different goals and goals. There has been a bit of a "sugar bit effect" on the men's side with many very good in the same place so there is a fun challenge in leading a group but at the same time not losing the individual and then also benefit from the fact that some of the players in the team have come a long way. Simon and Danne have a very important role - they know what it takes and thanks to which we get help with both good role models and the culture in the group. Developing even for them to bear that responsibility.

What do viewers have to look forward to in your upcoming technology and tactics vlogs?

A total openness about what I believe in and teach - in the usual order. We aim for 1 to 2 sections a month for the rest of the year.

Thanks Andreas!
